Your logic is way off my friend. Borel had to start from PP 13 and go 5 wide to the 1st turn before finally saving some ground at 3 wide. If this Filly gets a mid to inside post and can save a bit more ground at 1 and a half - neither the 70 yards you mention or the extra 5/16 of a mile is going to matter. In other words the Filly had to make 3 big moves - right from the gate as well the 2nd q alongside the pace setter, before she flattened out in 3q and then came again at the far edge of the backstretch - never mind hanging on. Lost in all the MTB hullabaloo is the incredibly uneven splits this filly ran at 5 and 3 and then 2 wide. This is not to say that MTB will not win the Belmont - he is perfectly capable and bred for distance - just as are Flying Private, Chocolate Candy, Charitable Man and his brother Summer Bird. I doubt the filly will play in this one - Jackson is more concerned about keeping her safe for stud work with Curlin.but if she does run.... it will be interesting to watch. Don't forget rags to riches!
